2021 Phase 4 Huatian Online Museum Event------"Auspicious Ruyi" of the Palace Museum
Auspicious "Ruyi"
Ruyi, also known as "Holding the Lord", is a traditional Chinese handicraft, which originated from the ancient Chinese "claw stick" (commonly known as "don't ask for help", "itchy scratch") as early as the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in China. After Buddhism was introduced to China during the Han Dynasty, the "claw stick" (named Anaru in Sanskrit) became popular in China as one of the Buddhists' portable equipment. Many Buddha statues are holding Ruyi, which is a symbol of auspiciousness After the Tang Dynasty, the use function of Ruyi gradually disappeared, and the decorative function was enhanced, becoming a handicraft.
